The ultimate sock guide

When dressing for different conditions, the big question is often which pants or sweater is most appropriate, while the choice of underwear is not as crucial in the decision-making process. Just as the bottom and top are important factors, socks are also of great importance for the outfit. Although they are usually hidden under pants and shoes, the pair has a significant impact on comfort. How warm the feet are greatly affects body temperature, and using socks that provide too little or too much warmth will have a bigger impact than you might think.

Therefore, it is essential to know which types of socks are best suited for the activities to be performed. As many might think - there is actually more than one type of sock. Among the wide selection available on the market, you will find, among others, bamboo socks, tennis socks, wool socks, and thick knit socks. Find the socks that best suit your type of training here! Read on to gain the knowledge you need so you can dress optimally for the conditions.

Tennis socks

Tennis socks are primarily made for physical activity and training. The socks are white, stretchy, and usually made of cotton. They have also become trendy for everyday use, worn pulled up outside the pants for a skater-style look, or under the pants for a more discreet appearance. Our tall tennis socks are sold in 1-pack, are soft and cushioning so you feel comfortable and stable during training. Their length also helps warm the body – making them excellent for outdoor training.

Ankle socks

During a workout inside a gym, the temperature can quickly rise, and a pair of ankle-high socks will be a good choice. You will experience good breathability, which is important for a good training session. Just as there are short training socks, ankle socks are also great for everyday use. When it comes to ankle socks for training, we recommend our short tennis socks. These are made with the same high quality as the long tennis socks but are sold as a 2-pack.

Our seamless socks are also excellent for training but are also great everyday socks. Because they are made seamless, they provide maximum comfort, and are functionally designed to avoid blisters and slipping down. These have less texture than the aforementioned tennis socks so wearing them almost feels like you have nothing on your feet.

Bamboo socks

Fabric made from bamboo has a hollow fiber structure that makes it highly absorbent and offers good breathability. Bamboo is therefore a perfect material for socks. Feet can easily become clammy, and with good bamboo socks, your feet will feel better and bad odor is reduced. Our bamboo socks are sold in 2-packs and are made so that they are not visible above the shoes. They are therefore perfect for summer under ballet flats or sneakers.

Wool socks

For colder days, it is important to have good wool socks that keep you warm. As mentioned at the beginning, socks are a decisive factor in maintaining body temperature, making wool socks essential in winter. Some may associate wool with itchiness and discomfort and might therefore avoid garments made from these materials. On the other hand, there are wool socks that neither itch nor feel bulky and clumsy on the foot.

Our tall wool socks are made of soft merino wool, making them comfortable, functional, and warm. Their length makes them perfect for outdoor physical activity, while also being cozy to wear indoors for extra warmth.

If wool socks are to be worn inside a cabin or office, a pair of ankle-high wool socks might be nice. This reduces the warmth applied to the body, making them a good middle ground between thin cotton socks and thick wool socks. The short wool socks are made with the same high-quality features as the long option.

Thick knit socks

A pair of thick knit socks is, unlike the two above-mentioned wool socks, a thicker alternative. They are perfect for cabin trips or as cozy socks at home by the fireplace. Due to their thickness, they provide maximum warmth, which is a comfortable option for the coldest days. Our thick knit socks are made with breathable properties, making them ideal for cold and wet climates – typical in Norway during autumn and winter.
